Djilpin Arts Aboriginal Corporation is a visionary, not-for-profit Indigenous-owned organisation based in the remote community of Beswick in the Northern Territory. Established in 2002, Djilpin develops and promotes Indigenous visual and performing arts of the Katherine and Arnhem regions and is the producer of the renowned Walking with Spirits Festival.
An exciting opportunity is now available for a self-motivated professional to coordinate cultural enterprise in Beswick: including art, accommodation and Indigenous cultural tourism programs.
Djilpin aims to generate sustainable and culturally appropriate employment for Beswick community members through the development of cultural products and services. This includes coordinating engaging, memorable tourism programs (art, accommodation, workshops and on-country experiences), showcasing cultural knowledge and growing meaningful work opportunities for community members.
Djilpin’s enterprise infrastructure includes a retail art gallery, café kitchen, museum, and guest accommodation and facilities. The coordinator works directly with a team of local Indigenous artsworkers, artists and cultural practitioners.
This role requires someone who has proven project management and people skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in an Indigenous cultural setting. Applicants with community development experience will be highly regarded.
If you are passionate about start up, Indigenous people and culture, and sustainable projects then this role may be just the opportunity you are looking for to work with purpose in 2017.
